Dr. Hawa Osman

Dr. Hawa Osman is an Assistant Librarian in charge of Reference and Client Services in the University of Health and Allied Sciences in Ghana. She is also the Liaison Librarian for the School of Nursing and Midwifery and teaches Information Literacy Skills to all level 100 students of UHAS. She holds a Bachelor of Education Degree (Social Science) from the University of Education, Winneba. She also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Policy and Governance. She later pursued a Master of Arts in Library Studies and PhD in Information Science at the University of South Africa, Pretoria. She practiced as a teacher in the Basic Schools in Ghana for six years after training as a professional teacher where she helped educate a lot of children in the rural areas of Ghana. She continued teaching in the second cycle institutions where she taught for thirteen years before taking up a different challenge to work as a Librarian. She is part of the team that set up the UHAS Library and created the Circulation system of the Library using the Sierra Integrated Library software. Her areas of research are information sources and effects of information literacy skills provision in higher institution. She has four publications in these areas.
