University Librarians hold annual seminar at UHAS

The University Library of UHAS hosted the 39th Seminar and Regular Meeting of the Committee of University Librarians and their Deputies (CULD) under the theme “The Role of Academic Librarians in Higher Education” on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at the Cedi Auditorium, Main Campus.

Mr. Christian Yaw Kofi, Chairman of CULD and the University Librarian of UHAS in his welcome address said, “Throughout the ages, libraries have been a critical part of any higher educational and research institutions, since they provide vital resources, facilities and services to students.” He explained that the idea of instituting a seminar series, mooted by the University of Development Studies (UDS), was adopted by CULD at its 10th regular meeting held September 1, 1995.

Professor Clement Adeleke Adebajo, a professor at the UHAS School of Pharmacy, who chaired the seminar on behalf of the Pro-Vice Chancellor, acknowledged the role and the efforts of libraries in academia, saying: “Without a well-furnished library, there will be no accreditation of academic programs.”

The theme for the 2020 seminar and regular meeting was dissected under two important topics, namely: “The Academic Library Management” delivered by Professor A.A. Alemna and “Bibliometrics and the Research Impact” delivered by Professor F. Ato Armah.
